About Jahmeel

Picture

Jahmeel is a humble, small town boy from Dundee, MI. He stumbled through his first play as Sandy The Candy Vendor in Brigadoon as a high school freshman, and has never looked back since!

He received his Bachelor's Degree in Theatre at Eastern Michigan University in 2013, where he experimented with many different types of performing arts: He even created his own Comedy troupe, Laugh-a-Minute Enterprises, the only Student Organization on Campus dedicated to all forms of Comedy!

He took a brief Hiatus to study other aspects of acting; including a 4 month internship with Walt Disney World, which was one of the most magical experiences of his life! He joined the Comedysportz Detroit roster; an interactive Improv Comedy troupe.

With his training both behind and on stage and camera, He has graduated with a MFA in Acting from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA on April 2018!
He was last seen in a number of shows in the Wilkes-Barre Area including; Playroom: Home for the Holidays (Gaslight Theatre) of Mice and Men (Act Out Theatre) and Medea (Intrepidus Theatre).

He has also created a Performance Coaching business with his business partner and wife, Beth Powers called Powers Performance Coaching with the goal of assisting actors, business leaders/employees, organizations, and anyone in  need of coaching in any means of "performance"  in the Scranton-Wilkes Barre area.

The Tempest:
"
...He (Caliban) seeks to be liberated from Prospero’s yoke by means of Stefano (Jahmeel Powers) and Trinculo (Jason Osorio), who form a comic duo. By turns buffoonish and wry, earnest and knowing, their performance falls over the edge of absurdity, as it should."

The School for Sausage:
"In typical Commedia Dell’arte fashion, this story ends happily, with the forgiveness of debt and the marriage of the young lovers, Isabella and Lelio, portrayed very well by Mariah Colby and Jahmeel Powers. (Their lovelorn scenes alone are worth the price of admission.)"

Misericordia University: "White Rabbit, Red Rabbit"

-February 10th, 2020

I performed a one-time (ever) performance of "White Rabbit, Red Rabbit", in which I was given the script 5 minutes before the show started and was not allowed to begin reading until the performance began. It was a magical, memorable, and very interactive experience that I surely won't forget!
